SUMMARY:International Mother Language Day
DESCRIPTION:Dear Community Members: \nFebruary 21st\, 1952 – a milestone in the history of Bangladesh\, when our people sacrificed their lives to earn the right to speak Bengali for us and our future generations. Recognizing their unconditional oblation\, UNESCO declared the day as International Mother Language Day around the world – which is a great pride and honour for each of us being a Bangladeshi. \nLiving thousands of miles away from our sand\, our land\, we are fortunate enough that now we are living in a society that similarly feels our heartfelt attachment to this day and as a result of which we have got the proclamation of 21st February as International Mother Language Day by Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality. \nWe have been working collaboratively with Province of Nova Scotia\, Halifax Public Libraries and other organizations to observe the special day of our community promoting linguistic diversity and multiculturalism in Nova Scotia. We are delighted to invite you to join the event commemorating the International Mother Language Day 2020 on Saturday\, February 22\, 2020 from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Paul O’ Regan Hall\, Halifax Central Library. The FB link of the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/454478931887240/ \nFree and open to the public\, the event will start with a language fair\, followed by socializing and refreshment\, flower giving at the temporary Shaheed Minar showing tribute to language martyred\, keynote presentations and cross-cultural performances. \nPlease book your calendar and join the event with your family\, friends\, neighbours and colleagues to show homage and respect to our language martyrs. We will keep posting further updates and looking forward to seeing your active participation. \nClick here to register for this event. \nThanks\, \nKhaled Hasan \nEkushey 2020 Organizing Team\nBangladesh Community Association of Nova Scotia (BDCANS)
