Introduction:<\/strong><\/b><\/h2>\n

The Bangladesh Community Association of Nova Scotia (BDCANS)<\/b> is a voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Bangladeshi culture, heritage, and community values within Nova Scotia\u2019s multicultural society.<\/p>\n

BDCANS works to bring community members together, encourage social connections, and support a strong sense of belonging while celebrating Bangladeshi traditions and cultural identity.<\/p>\n

Please note:<\/b> BDCANS does not<\/b> provide immigration, visa, or legal services. However, we aim to help newcomers connect with useful settlement information and community resources in Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n

Before You Travel<\/b><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

  • Book your flight carefully.<\/b> If possible, consider a direct flight from London to Halifax, even if it costs a little more.<\/li>\n
  • If Halifax is not your first airport in Canada, allow at least 5 hours<\/b> for your connection. You may need extra time for immigration, customs, and collecting your luggage.<\/li>\n
  • Keep your important documents in your carry-on luggage<\/b>, including:<\/li>\n
      \n
    • Permanent Resident Confirmation \/ immigration documents<\/li>\n
    • Passport and visa<\/li>\n
    • Educational certificates and transcripts<\/li>\n
    • Previous employment records and reference letters<\/li>\n
    • Medical prescriptions and important health records<\/li>\n
    • Dental and optical records<\/li>\n
    • Children’s immunization records and school records<\/li>\n
    • Marriage certificate, if applicable<\/li>\n

    • Bring suitable winter clothing<\/b>, as Halifax winters can be cold. You may also bring traditional Bangladeshi clothing for cultural and community events.<\/li>\n
