Bangladesh Community Association of Nova Scotia (BDCANS) is pleased to announce a project “Diversity Literacy Project for the Bangladesh Community”.

BDCANS recognizes the support of the Province of Nova Scotia for this project.  We are pleased to work in partnership with the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage to develop and promote our cultural resources for all Nova Scotians.

The project includes different activities under the following three components:

  • Bangla language training for children
  • Linguistic and cultural outreach activities
  • Organizing a workshop on “International Mother Language Day 2018: Challenges and Opportunities to Preserve and Promote Mother Languages”

The project aims to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of our nation for the mother tongue- Bangla, to preserve and promote our unique linguistic and cultural identity, and to connect with various communities in Nova Scotia promoting positive and harmonious co-existence with the people of diverse culture, language, ethnicities and spiritual identities.

As announced earlier, the first initiative, Bangla language training for children, has already been scheduled to start on July 22, 2017. The Bangla School team will be contacting you with further details. We are working to plan other initiatives under this project, which will be communicated through email, Facebook and website (http://bdcans.com).

We would highly appreciate your support and participation to make this project a success of our community. If you are interested in volunteering for the project please feel free to contact us at bdcans2017@gmail.com
